Climate reporting in the U.S. has historically been led by voluntary or individual market efforts. In the last few years, however, the landscape has shifted, and new laws and proposals are establishing regulations on how companies must pursue and report on climate activities.
These new regulations include the CA SB-253, CA SB-261, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposals, AB 1305, and Senate Bill S897A.
These laws are either fully in effect or will be soon, and companies need to have a strong grasp on how these laws affect them and their operations so they can adapt accordingly and remain compliant.
In this guide, we’ll cover the ins and outs of the U.S. climate landscape in 2024, and discuss the steps you can take to stay on top of reporting in 2025 and beyond.
